Do you love the subtlety of raised, marks on white paper? What about creating artwork you can touch as well as view?
What will we be doing? Artist, Teacher, and studio holder here at a Touch of Craft Yorkshire, Ruth Fones will take you step by step to create your own original embossed artwork. During this guided embossing workshop you will be introduced to both hand and machine embossing techniques. We will use a variety of hand embossing tools to first draw your design on tactile drawing paper - the surface of the paper raises up as you draw! Then you will create your own embossing plate using collage techniques to run through the embossing press. You can then adjust your collage, combine techniques or create another to have a few designs to choose from. Examples, photographs to work from and stencils will be provided. If you have a particular landscape photograph that is special to you that you'd like to work from then please bring that along. We also have the lovely view out of The Touch of Craft studio window which will provide us with some beautiful inspiration at this time of year.
How long is the class? The class is a 3 hour class with a break half way to enjoy a cuppa or bring something stronger if you wish!
What will I take home? You will leave the class with a framed 8 x 6 inch piece of embossed paper art in an A4 frame ready to hang on your wall or gift to a loved one. All materials, tools, papers and frames included. You will also take home the skills to carry on exploring hand embossing techniques independently.

This class is also suitable for attendees with limited vision as the techniques can be taught through touch rather than vision. This workshop is on the first floor via stairs only. Refreshments can be purchased from the venue (cash only- all items £1) No refund for cancellations within 1 week prior to the event although I will endeavour to sell your tickets for you or transfer to a future class.
